What Kira is

1.1

We track. We don't move money.

Kira is an expense tracking and bill-splitting tool. We record who owes what. We do not hold, process, transfer, or touch any money. Any actual payment happens between you and the people you're splitting with — outside of Kira.
1.2

Not a bank. Not a financial adviser.

Nothing in Kira constitutes financial advice, credit services, or regulated financial activity under the Financial Services Act 2013 (Malaysia). If you're using Kira to manage serious debt, please also talk to an actual human.
1.3

You must be 18 or older.

By creating an account, you confirm you are at least 18 years old. If you're not, please close the app and do your homework.

Your responsibilities

2.1

No link opened, no record created.

Members only appear on a bill once they join via your share link. If someone never opens it, they are not recorded, tracked, or notified by Kira in any way. Sending the link is your job. Kira is not responsible for wilful ignorance, selective blindness, or garden-variety laziness.
2.2

Your debts are your problem.

If someone doesn't pay their share, Kira cannot help you collect. We are not a debt recovery service. We will not call your friend. We will not send strongly worded emails on your behalf. We show the number — what you do with it is between you and them.
2.3

Enter accurate information.

You agree to record expenses honestly. Inflating amounts, adding fake charges, or secretly adding a "service fee" to your friends' shares is between you and your conscience — but don't say we didn't mention it.
2.4

Keep your account secure.

You're responsible for all activity under your account. Use a strong password. Don't share your login. If someone else racks up RM300 of recorded sushi debt on your account, that's on you.

Data & privacy

3.1

We handle your data responsibly.

We comply with Malaysia's Personal Data Protection Act 2010 (PDPA). We collect only what we need to run the app, we don't sell it, and we don't want to. Full details are in our Privacy Policy.
3.2

Your payment details are encrypted.

Any payment identifiers you add — including DuitNow IDs, Touch 'n Go numbers, and GrabPay numbers — are encrypted at rest. They are only used to display your preferred payment methods to people you've invited to a bill. We do not share them with third parties or use them to initiate any transactions.
3.3

Your data, your right.

You can request a copy of your data or ask us to delete your account at any time. Deletion is permanent — we can't recover it after. See the Privacy Policy for the full picture.

The honest stuff

4.1

Kira is not responsible for lost friendships.

Bill-splitting is a loaded topic. Kira makes the numbers clear — what people do with that clarity is up to them. We have seen friendships survive. We make no guarantees.
4.2

The "we'll sort it later" clause.

Marking a debt as settled when it isn't because it's awkward to ask — is a you problem. Kira will faithfully show the outstanding balance for as long as you let it.
4.3

Splitting with an ex voids no warranties.

You can use Kira to settle up with an ex. We support you. We also cannot be held responsible for any emotions this may surface.

Limitations

5.1

No warranty on uptime.

We do our best to keep Kira running. If the app is down right when you need to split the bill at the table, we are sorry. Please use the Notes app as a backup like the rest of us.
5.2

We can change these terms.

We'll notify you of material changes before they take effect. Continuing to use Kira after that means you accept the updated terms. We'll try not to sneak anything in. Our third-party service providers — including analytics and error reporting tools — may update their own terms independently. We'll update this policy accordingly.
